This fine silver coin was minted in Rome under the auspices of Emperor Commodus,
son of Marcus Aurelius, between 180 and 193 A. D. Commodus was a soldier in this
increasingly warlike and less peaceful time of Roman influence in the world. The
power and influence of Rome was slowly ebbing in the world at this time, with the
ruling power being mostly concentrated in the hands of the Emperor. This coin, a
silver denarius about the size of a dime, depicts the bust of Commodus on the obverse,
with Commodus standing holding a sceptre and trident on the reverse. The coin is
mounted in a wonderful hand made 14 kt. yellow gold ring size 11, with the coin
held in by the ring and no solders or damage to the coin whatsoever. The coin can
be size up or down two sizes easily if required. It is also accompanied by a certificate
of authenticity.
