This Atocha Grade Two Eight Reale was minted by Assayer "M" in 1617. (The "M" Assayer was a one year assayer)The Assayer's Mark is clearly visible to the left of the shield on the obverse. The coin is mounted on the Crusader's Cross side. It is mounted with a brand new 14k Gold Shark. This shark was hand-carved using the lost wax process, and it is the first time we have used it. Sharks have always been one of our best sellers on Spanish Treasure Coins, especially those of the Atocha.
